The KissFAQ

The Complete KISS Album Chart Action, 1974-

A brief introductory note: For US albums, if it isn't listed here then it didn't chart on the Billboard 200 (unless Billboard and/or I have made errors). Data for other countries is from the mainstream music charts, but will give you a good idea of how the albums performed over a period of time. You'll even garner some interesting trivia, like:

For two weeks (5/21-5/28) KISS' "Crazy Nights" was on the charts with Vinnie's "All Systems Go". Two weeks later, Ace's "Second Sighting" entered the charts, where it and "All Systems Go" remained until Vinnie's album dropped out of the top-200 in late August '88.

KISS' "Crazy Nights" also shared the charts with Ace's "Frehley's Comet" for five weeks (10/10-11/7) in 1987.

Ace's "Trouble Walkin'" shared its' whole chart run of 9 weeks with KISS' "Hot In The Shade" from 11/11/89 to 1/6/90... HITS stayed in the charts until July 1990.

"You Wanted The Best" is the only KISS album since 1983 to drop out of the charts and re-enter two weeks later... Several other albums have had multiple appearances on the charts: Dressed To Kill, Destroyer, The Originals, and Alive II...

KISS have had 9 Top-10 albums: Alive, Love Gun, Alive II, Dynasty, Revenge, Alive III, Psycho Circus, Sonic Boom, and Monster...

Alive, Destroyer, The Originals, Rock And Roll Over and Love Gun, were all on the charts at the same time, making KISS the only band to accomplish this feat! (Dunno 'bout the Beatles... checking ;) In other time frames Alive, Dressed To Kill, and Destroyer were all on the charts at the same time...

Quick facts:
Album with longest chart appearance: Alive (110 Weeks)
Studio album with shortest chart appearance: Carnival Of Souls (4 Weeks)
Highest "debut": Sonic Boom (#2 - 10/24/09)
Highest solo album debut: Peter Criss (#85)

Special thanks to John Stromberger for providing some of the weekly data for some pre-1983 albums which make this resource complete.
